RATES in the City of Swan look likely to increase by 3.25 per cent in the next financial year. Councillors at last week’s meeting resolved to seek public comment on a rate rise, as required by the Local Government Act 1995 that states councils must advertise proposed differential rates and special area rate for comment by the community.
The motion was put forward by Cr Kevin Bailey and seconded by Cr Daniel McDonnell, who said the increase was necessary.
“A rise of 3.25 per cent will allow the City of Swan to provide extra services that are needed in the community,” Cr McDonnell said.
